Paneer Barfi Recipe

  • Paneer barfi is a popular sweet in our country which made from grated paneer (cottage cheese), condensed milk, and other ingredients like sugar, cardamom, and dry fruits. It’s known for its rich, creamy texture and subtle sweetness.

You enjoy varius sweets from market but you don’t about quality, how fresh, ingredients authenticity. In such a situation, preparing sweet at home is best when come in health and taste in your mind. Paneer barfi is Indian sweet characterized by its soft, chewy texture and subtle sweetness. It often boasts a hint of nutty or cardamom flavor, adding depth as taste.

May you are herd or making first time, visually, paneer barfi is typically cut into squares or diamonds and adorned with dry fruits like almonds, pistachios, or cashews, creating a visually appealing and flavorful treat.

It’s rich and creamy flavor, combined with the sweetness of cardamom and the crunch of dry fruits, makes it a beloved treat among Indian food enthusiasts.

Here, we are using these ingredients for making paneer barfi. You have to arrange these ingredients before starting.

Preparation before starting paneer barfi recipe

Before starting recipe, you need to grated paneer and greased tin plate.

1. Paneer preparation

Quantity: Use 400 grams of paneer. Grating: Grate the paneer into small, fine pieces.

2. Grease tin foil box

Add thin layer of ghee inside of the tin foil box. This will prevent the paneer from sticking.

Note: you can use other thing like plate or something else for shaping. Here we used tin box for because we want big size pieces of paneer barfi.

Heat full cream milk with sugar

Heat the Pan:

Turn on your stove at medium flame. Use a suitable pan for cooking, such as a non-stick skillet or a saucepan.

Add Ingredients:

Milk: Pour 1/2 cup of full-cream milk into the heated pan.

Sugar: Add 1/4 cup of sugar to the milk.

Stir milk & sugar mixture until the sugar dissolves completely.

Add one by one and mix it: grated paneer, milkmaid, cardamom powder, milk powder

Add these 4 ingredients one by one according following below given tips.

Add Paneer: Pour the grated paneer into the pan which containing with the milk and sugar mixture.

Add Milkmaid: Add & pour 300 grams of milkmaid into the pan. Milkmaid is a condensed milk product, so it will add a rich and creamy texture.

Add Cardamom Powder: Stir in 1 teaspoon of cardamom powder. Cardamom adds a warm and slightly sweet flavor.

Add Milk Powder: Gradually add 1/2 cup of milk powder in 3-4 batches, stirring well after each addition. Milk powder will help thicken the mixture and give it a more solid consistency.

Add chopped dry fruits, cut into pieces & settle down paneer barfi in refrigerator

Follow these 4 steps after mixture is ready.

Transfer to tin foil plate: Pour the prepared paneer barfi mixture into the greased tin foil plate. (you can use shaping other item like thali, etc. Whatever you have)

Add chopped dry fruits: Sprinkle chopped dry fruits (like almonds, pistachios, or cashews) on top of the paneer barfi. This will add a delightful crunch and visual appeal.

Cut into pieces: Once the paneer barfi has cooled slightly (approx 2-3 min), cut it into small, desired pieces.

Refrigerate: Now it’s at final step, place the cut paneer barfi in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes for settle down the barfi. This will help the barfi set and become perfect panner barfi.

Ingredients

  • 400 grams paneer, grated
  • 1/2 cup full cream milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 300 grams milkmaid
  • 1 teaspoon cardamom powder
  • 1/2 cup milk powder
  • Ghee for greasing the tin foil box
  • Chopped dry fruits for garnishing

Instructions:

  1. Grate the paneer into small, fine pieces.
  2. Grease a tin foil box with ghee.
  3. Heat the milk and sugar in a pan until the sugar dissolves.
  4. Add the grated paneer and milkmaid to the pan and stir well.
  5. Add the cardamom powder and milk powder, stirring well after each addition.
  6. Transfer the mixture into the greased tin foil box.
  7. Garnish with chopped dry fruits.
  8. Cut into small pieces
  9. Refrigerate for 30 minutes to set.
  10. Now ready to serve.
