- Masoor dal vada is a crispy, deep-fried snack made from masoor dal (red lentils). The soaked and ground masoor dal are mixed with spices, onions, and herbs, then shaped into small patties and fried until golden brown. It’s a popular South Indian delicacy, perfect as a tea-time snack or appetizer.
Some people don’t like masoor dal so I’m sure they may love crispy & crunchy masoor dal vada. This is tasty way of utilities masoor dal.

How to make masoor dal vada
Soak the masoor dal
Soak 2 cup masoor dal for 3 to 4 hours. After soaking the dal keep 2 tbsp dal for later use in this recipe.
Blend and mix all ingredients
Blend the soaked masoor dal into grinder. (Not too fine, it’s look like in above image). Mix it properly. Add below given ingredients into coarsely masoor dal.
👉 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
👉 1 tsp chilli powder
👉 Salt to taste
👉 Curry leaves
👉 3/4 tsp cumin seeds
👉 1 tsp green chilli
👉 1 tsp Ginger (little pieces)
👉 1 tsp Garlic (little pieces)
Make vada and fry it
👉 1 chopped onion
👉 2 tsp soaked masoor dal
Mix all ingredients properly. Now add 1.5 tbsp rice flour. Mix well.
How to make vada/tikki?
Before start making vada process add oil on palm so that it’s not stick with your hand. First take some batter and make round ball and then press it. Same way make all vada.
How to fry?
Put oil into the kadhai and heat at medium flame and fry all masoor vada. Fry green chilli which perfect combination with your masoor dal vada.
